Recipe History: I got this from a neighbor of mine over twenty years ago. This is a great recipe to make up before the holidays. Can be made right before serving or made ahead and frozen. It's perfect for visitors who drop in on a cold winter day. Just pull from the freezer and add hot water! Warning: Not a diet drink!
Ingredients:
1 quart vanilla ice cream
1 pound margarine or butter, softened
1 pound brown sugar
1 pound powdered sugar
1-2 teaspoons nutmeg
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Rum
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together (takes some stirring)
Store in freezer if not using right away
To serve, scoop 1-2 generous spoonfuls of mixture to mug, a shot of rum and boiling water
Add a cinnamon stick
Tip: I can't remember the exact amount of mixture to add to each cup, so try one spoonful, and it that doesn't taste like enough add the second. Great drink for the parents on Christmas day!
