Triple Good Bars

Ingredients: 
2 cups raisins
1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 tblsp grated lemon peel
1 tblsp lemon juice
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine
1-1/3 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1-1/2 tsps vanilla
2-1/2 cups uncooked oats (quick or old-fashioned)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1-1/2 chopped walnuts
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:
Heat oven to 375.
Grease 9x13" baking pan.
In a medium saucepan, combine raisins, milk, lemon peel and lemon juice.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture begins to bubble.
Remove from heat, cool slightly.
Set aside.

Beat butter, sugar and vanilla until fluffy.
Add oats, flour, walnuts, soda and salt.
Blend until evenly mixed and crumbly.
Reserve 2 cups.
Press remaining mixture onto bottom of greased pan.
Spread raisin mixture to within 1/2-inch of edges.
Sprinkle remaining oat mixture.
Pat lightly.
Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool completely.
Cut into 1x2" bars.


Makes 4 dozen bars.
