Recipe History: I've used this recipe since 1995. These cookies are made every Christmas
Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter. softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup light corn or maple syrup
1 egg
2 tsps. vanilla
2-1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 12-oz. pkg chocolate chips

- Heat oven to 350 degrees.
- In large mixer bowl, beat butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add syrup, egg and vanilla. Beat well.
- Stir together flour, baking soda and salt.
- Gradually add dry mixture to butter mixture, beating well.
- Stir in a 12-oz package of chocolate chips. (Nuts are optional).
- Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes until lightly browned and almost set.
- Cool slightly, remove from cookie sheet and cool completely.
- Store in airtight Tupperware-type container. Makes 3-1/2 dozen.
