Recipe History: Robbie and I loved this recipe! The sauce polishes this dish off!!
Ingredients:
4 whole Anaheim or Poblano chiles, cooked. deseeded and skinned
longhorn or cheddar cheese
2 eggs
1 tblsp flour
Oil
Directions:
Stuff each chile with cubed or shredded cheese.
Separate egg whites and yolks.
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Add flour and egg yolks.
Beat until creamy.
Dip stuffed chile into batter and fry until golden brown on both sides.
Chile Relleno Sauce
Ingredients:
2 tblsps margarine
2 tblsps corn starch
4 oz taco sauce
1 cup chicken broth or bouillon
1/8 tsp oregano
Directions:
Melt margarine in saucepan at medium heat.
Add corn starch.
Stir in the remaining ingredients.
Cook until thick and bubbly.
Serve with the sauce poured over the chile relleno.
